Hi Deveney! Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Hello all! Where do I start?! My name is Deveney Franklin. I am 23 years old. I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC, where I currently reside. I graduated from Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) with a Sports Medicine degree. Now I am a graduate student at UNCC with aspirations of attending medical school. I am multiracial (black and white) and I love food, exercise, shopping and trying new things!

Can you tell us about your blog (if applicable) and what inspired you to start it? Well to be honest, I have always wanted to start a blog but I never had the confidence to do it. It wasn’t until my friend Jasmine who owns a jewelry line (Amerie 1936) convinced me to start after talking about it for months. When I started I came up with a theme “ Fifty Shades of Dev”. In this series, viewers will see my versatility in style. I am all about aesthetics, so I want people to visit my page and say wow, that’s pretty! My blog is constantly evolving. At first I was so worried about if people would like my photos but now im like to hell with it! If I like the photo, I am going to post it.  In the future, I hope to post more everyday stuff, get sponsors and start a website. I started it because it is what I am passionate about! It really keeps me going and I hope people see my passion in my photos.

What’s your next fashion must have?
I would have to say a cute pair of comfortable sneakers.  Sneakers are so versatile. You can wear them to the gym, with a dress or with jeans.

How would you describe your style?
Hint—it starts with a “V” and ends with “tile”. VERSATILE! One day I could wear an Adidas track suit with some slides and the next day I could wear a pair of Louboutins with an off the shoulder dress. Affordable. Most pieces I buy are under $50 minus the occasional splurge.

Where do you tend to buy your clothes and why?
Well I am still a student, so I shop on a budget. Most of my clothes come from Forever 21 (the best sell is the 40% off of sale), H&M, Zara and Adidas. I also shop at a store called Gabes and Tjmaxx.

Do you have any fashion rules when putting an outfit together?
The outfit must flow but never be too matchy matchy. When mixing prints, make sure one print is less chaotic.Mixing denims is great but make sure they are exact or have enough contrast if not exact!  Never be afraid of color and different prints.

What is your top style tip?
Accessories, Accessories, accessories. They truly make your outfit pop

What is the biggest style lesson you’ve ever learned?
It okay to wear something that not everyone will like. Be confident and rock it!

What pieces do you invest in and why?
Shoes. I’ve been the same shoe size since middle school , therefore, shoes last a long time for me. Plus I am constantly on my feet at work. It’s important to have comfortable, cute and long lasting shoes.

Do you have a favourite designer? If so, who?
Right now I would have to say Gucci. I am loving the structure of the Dionysus and Sylvie bags and the velvet used in the Marmont. Lately, I have been obsessed with Asian prints and Gucci has released a lot of Asian inspired pieces. I just wish I could afford it all!

Imagine you open your closet and it’s empty. What’s the first thing you would buy?
A nice handbag ( Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada). As mentioned before, accessories really make an outfit!

What is your go-to online resource for style inspiration?
My top two favorite fashion bloggers are @camilacoelho and @oliviaculpo. Both have amazing style and I always get inspiration from them. For street style, I look at @foreverflawlyss. She’s so dope! Her fashion and her hair styles!

How can our followers follow you?
You can follow me on Instagram @dcfrankl
